Why Partners Contribute
There are many reasons our Partners contribute to Quincy Public Schools. Read about why the School~Community Partnership matters to these Partners.
Quincy Medical Center
Quincy Medical Center is privileged to be one of the oldest partners of the
Quincy Public Schools and proud of its efforts to shape the futures of
thousands of students over the past 20 years. The Partnership is truly a
win-win.
The
students gain exposure to the many career fields within healthcare and
valuable clinical experiences that enrich their classroom studies. It is also
very rewarding for our expert clinicians and staff – many of whom attended
Quincy Public Schools – to mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders.
The Charles D. Bernazzini Elementary School third grade visits the hospital
every year. QMC also works with QPS faculty to help bring classroom lessons to
life. For example, it is not unusual for students to study the cardiovascular
system in the classroom and then schedule a visit to the Nuclear Medicine
Department to learn more about a procedure, first hand, from QMC clinicians
and technologists. Students from the Quincy High Schools are able to conduct
their clinical training and rotations at QMC.
Students
receive hands on patient care training as nursing aides. In addition, we offer
flexible volunteer opportunities for high school students looking to round-out
their college and scholarship applications. Each year, the Quincy Medical
Center Auxiliary awards a college scholarship to an outstanding student
volunteer pursing a career in healthcare. We are especially proud to employ
many graduates of the Quincy Public School system who were first exposed to
Quincy Medical Center through our educational partnership and now play a vital
role in training the next generation.

When
a community comes together to support public education everyone wins,
particularly our students. Teachers and administrators are best suited to
determine the appropriate curriculum for students and how our schools should
operate to deliver a quality experience for each child. The value of community
support is facilitated through the Partnership. It delivers additional
personal and financial resources exposing children to new experiences which
enhances the educational process. We are pleased to be a part of the program
and have enjoyed our relationship with the Clifford Marshall school for many
years.

Quincy Credit Union
Quincy
Credit Union is pleased to be a Platinum Partner in the Quincy School
Community Partnership. For the last four years, Quincy Credit Union has
partnered with Point Webster Middle School, in an effort to expand learning
from the classroom into the community. Judy Brazil, Vice President of
Marketing for Quincy Credit Union and Maura Gilmartin, Marketing Coordinator,
work with the 6th grade students during their monthly Real Life Math
activities. Point Webster students learn about bank security, Identity Theft
Prevention, how to apply for a bank account and write out a check, how to
complete a withdrawal or deposit slip, calculating interest and monthly
payments on a new car. One of the most popular activities is the making of id
cards. Part of the lesson on Identity Theft reinforces the message of on-line
safety, and protecting your personal information. The school year wraps up
with a celebration of either pizza or ice cream party for students and staff.
In addition, Quincy Credit Union hosts annual tours of their building for the
6th grade field trip, hosts the holiday choral group performances, PIP (Parent
Involvement Program) Math Fair at Roche Brother’s Supermarket, and volunteer
