GED Program

Thinking about taking the GED (General Educational Development) exam? Our GED preparation course can assist you in passing your high school equivalency exam. You must pass 5 tests: Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. We offer the assistance you need to succeed! Your GED opens doors to college and other careers. If you are 16 years or older and want to earn your GED, register today! Don’t put off your future for a minute longer!

GED Placement Test

GED Preparation students take the placement test before attending the GED Preparation classes. This test helps define student strengths and weaknesses. Students must be registered and paid in full for GED Preparation COurse prior to taking the Placement Test. There is no charge for registered students to take this Placement Test.

GED Preparation

Our Preparation classes prepare you to take your GED exam, which provides you the opportunity to enter college, take the Civil Service exam, or get that license. You’ll review reading, writing, and mathematics. GED Text and calculator required. Please note: registration and payment to take the official GED exam is separate from taking the GED Preparation course. All GED students should sign up for GED Placement Test on Wednesday January 21, 2009.

GED Policies

Registration

To register for the GED exam, students must provide the following:

  • Two forms of identification one being a current, valid picture ID (passport or Massachusetts drivers license)and the other a birth certificate or Social Security card. Candidates will not be allowed to test without proper identification.
  • $65 (non-refundable) money order (no checks, no cash, no credit cards) made payable to Quincy Public Schools.
  • Students under 18 years of age must provide a "letter of withdrawal" from their high school.

Seats are limited. Register early.

Registered students must attend the GED Orientaiton.

GED Exam

The following items must be presented each night of the exam:

Applicants must arrive at North Quincy HIgh School at 3:45pm on the scheduled days of testing. If you are late you will not be allowed to test. No excuses. No exceptions. Please plan accordingly.
