I am pleased to welcome you to our new QPS
Health Services Website. The purpose of which is to increase communication from
our school nurses to the entire school community. Users will be able to access
important information such as: a directory of all school nurses, information on
common childhood infections and contagious diseases, student health requirements
for school entry, medication policies, screenings, and requirements for
participation in school sports. Our Forms section will allow easy access to our
most frequently used health forms. Our Nursing News section will keep you up
to date on what is happening in school health. Our health newsletter will be
available as well as current health initiatives and new health policies.
We as a nursing team hope that you find our website informative and helpful. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions in helping to make our schools a healthy place to learn.

Health Services
The primary objective of school health services provided by the school nurse is to foster the optimum level of wellness for students and staff. The school nurse provides a broad range of heath services including acute, episodic and emergency care. School nurses manage the care of students with special health care needs at school.
School Nurses are located in the health services office in each of Quincy’s schools. A registered nurse is responsible for the management of health assessment, mandatory screenings, monitoring each student’s immunization status, and maintaining health records for each student. Nurses also collaborate with local physicians and agencies. Statistical data are compiled and state reports are completed monthly. Quincy Public Schools is fortunate to have a full-time nurse in every school building.
