Advanced Placement Center
The Advanced Placement Center (APC) is a full-time, self-contained program for academically talented students in grades 6,7, and 8. This system-wide program accepts qualified students directly from the Elementary Laboratory Center (ELC), or at any other time during the middle school years. The APC provides maximum opportunities for emerging adolescents of exceptional ability to interact with other intellectually gifted students within a supportive environment. ANTI-TRUANCY PROGRAM
The Anti-Truancy Program is funded by a grant through the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.This program provides an after-school program for middle school students who are exhibiting problems with truancy and excessive tardiness. Teachers/mentors are assigned to identify "at-risk" students at each of the middle schools. Students receive academic and social support and the opportunity to develop a positive and nurturing relationship with an adult mentor.

Behavioral Growth and Development
Behavioral Growth and Development (BGD) is a substantially separate program for middle school students, grades 6 through 8, with social, emotional and/or behavioral issues that interfere with a successful full-time, general education experience. Business Partnerships
Community Partnership seeks to match businesses, community service agencies, and institutions of higher education with individual Quincy schools. The partnerships promote a relationship within which the organizations involved and the school students derive mutual benefit. Partnerships can be a dynamic, intra-community, intergenerational exchange that serves as a catalyst, becoming an important opportunity for growth within the Institutions and change within the schools. Community Service Learning
Community Service Learning (CSL) is an educational methodology in which service is an integral part of a regular academic classroom during regular school hours. A good CSL project addresses real needs of the community, helps students better understand academic subject matter, provides youth with leadership roles in their community, and brings about positive change. Community Service Learning is students, faculty and community agencies working together for a better tomorrow!

The goal of this program is to equip students with additional skills to enable them to serve as role models for their classmates. The main focus of the program will be on the dangers of tobacco. Educational Services to the Homeless
The Coordinator of Educational Services to the Homeless provides both support and concrete services to homeless students so that they may have stable educational experiences. The coordinator offers tutorial services to children and collaborates with local schools and community agencies to address the many needs of homeless families. The grant also provides resources for special student needs. Many creative and collaborative initiatives give students and their families the support they need during a difficult transition. Approximately 250 students from throughout the city receive services each year.

English as a Second Language Service
Each elementary school offers English as a Second Language Services (ESL) to students whose first language is not English. There is one citywide middle and one citywide high school program offered to secondary students with English fluency ranging from 0 to 5, with students speaking one of the many languages and dialects spoken in Quincy. Extramural sports

GOALS
GOALS is a comprehensive alternative middle and high school program for at-risk students. Strong behavior management is the foundation of the program's structure, enabling academic, social, emotional and behavioral development. The therapeutic component focuses on the development of coping strategies and solutions enabling students to have better control over their behavior, allowing them to successfully transition back to a regular school environment. Health Fair
Quincy Public Schools sponsors an annual Health Fair in conjunction with local health organizations such as the American Lung Association, Quincy Health Department, New England Dairy Council, and Quincy Medical Center. Students display representations of the health curriculum, including anti-smoking, dental care, fire safety, alcohol abuse prevention, DARE, etc.

Intensive Special Needs Center
Intensive Special Needs Centers (ISNC) are substantially separate programs for middle school students who demonstrate the need for a highly structured, self-contained program, which addresses significant social and/or learning challenges. Jazz Band
This is a general ensemble offering, open to interested middle school students. The Jazz Band meets one morning per weekend. Participants perform at various events throughout the school year.

Kids Vote
Kids Vote teaches students about the voting process. Curriculum activities include mock debates, practical instruction on how to fill out voter registration forms, and activities to enhance citizenship. Students accompany their parents to the polls, simulating the actual voting experience.

Peer Mediation
Peer Mediators help students solve conflicts by talking to each other about the cause of the conflict, the effects the conflict has on each student, and identifying a plan to solve the conflict.

This annual event occurs in May or June. The festival is a culminating celebration of the visual and performing arts that have been experienced by all students in grades kindergarten through grade 12.

RECYCLING
This program provides a consistent system-wide recycling awareness for students, teachers, custodians, administration, parents, food services personnel and the community. The program is designed to encourage and develop a variety of opportunities for students, staff, etc. to demonstrate that the reuse of materials is not only desirable, but also necessary in reducing waste products within the local community and global community.

Special Needs Learning Center - Middle School
Special Needs Learning Center (SNLC) is a substantially separate classroom for middle school students who have been assessed with global developmental disabilities. The curriculum is geared toward functional academics and activities of daily living. Students will go on to either the SNLC IV or, the Extended Vocational Alternative, high school programs. Teen Dating Violence Protection Program
The Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program, funded by the Department of Education, works to educate, support, and intervene around the issue of dating violence. The primary emphasis is middle and high school levels. Students are introduced to the topic of safe and respectful relationships through dramatic performances, assemblies, and small group discussions. Community resource information and dating violence awareness information is provided to students and parents through this program.

Transitional Bilingual Education Class
Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) classes are offered in Cantonese and Vietnamese. The classes are staffed by a bilingual teacher and in larger classes by a bilingual aide. All students requiring this program are invited to attend with the consent of their parents.
