Please complete the employment application and other required forms, then return them in person to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent located at Quincy High School, 70 Coddington Street between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 3:00P.M. Along with the completed forms, please bring with you the following:
- Proof of your degree
- A state-issued driver's license or state-issued I.D. card with a photograph
- An original social security card OR a birth certificate issued by the state, country, or municipal authority bearing a seal or other certification
- In lieu of #2 and #3 you may bring in a United States Passport OR Certification of United States Citizenship OR a Certificate of Naturalization.

What is the Quincy Public Schools teacher pay scale?
For academic 2004-5, the minimum annual teachers salary is $33,940. The minimum annual rate for a teacher with a Masters degree is $37,142. It jumps to $40,344 for a teacher with a Masters degree plus 30 graduate credits. The maximum salary for a teacher with a Bachelor's degree is $53,794. The Master's maximum is $59,235. Masters plus 30 maximum is $64,678. A Quincy Public School teacher who carries a Doctorate and 12 plus years of service will earn $66,279 in academic 04-5.
What insurance benefits are Quincy Public Schools teachers eligible for?
Any teacher at half-time or higher is eligible for Harvard Pilgrim Health Coverage and Delta Dental Insurance. The City of Quincy generously pays for 75-90% of the health benefits, and 50% of all dental premiums.
What sick leave and personal leave apply to our teachers?
The annual sick leave allotment is 15 days for a full-time teacher. Unused sick leave accumulates without limit. Teachers may also use up to 2 days of paid personal leave to care for pressing personal business that cannot be addressed outside the school day.
What is the hiring process for teachers in Quincy?
Applications should be brought in person to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent located at Quincy High School, 70 Coddington Street between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 3:00P.M. Applications may also be mailed to the Personnel Office, 70 Coddington Street, Quincy 02169. The Director of Personnel will forward appropriate applications to principals whose schools have vacancies. Principals will screen applicants, contact candidates, coordinate interviews, and recommend appointment.
Must I substitute teach before I'll be considered for a contract?
No, but it is a wonderful way to become known by principals and to learn more about our school system!
What first steps should I take toward employment in the Quincy Public Schools?
- Take and pass the Massachusetts Teacher’s test. (MTEL)
- Apply for a Massachusetts Teacher’s License
- Send a resume to the Personnel Office
- If possible, try to do your student teaching in the Quincy Public Schools
