After reviewing the major contributions of Greco-Roman civilization, World History 1 will explore the major political and cultural trends and movements in world history from the Fall of the Roman Empire through the Industrial Revolution. There is an emphasis on developing critical thinking and communication skills. The course will investigate and emphasize the importance of understanding cause and effect as it relates to major historical events. Students will be required to analyze historical sources in order to develop an understanding of the dynamics of historiography. The theme of conflict and resolution and of historical change will be emphasized.
