The Winter School program offers various tuition courses from February
through April during non-school hours. Some courses offered previously
were "Health and Physical Education," "Learning to
Achieve," and "Scholastic Achievement Test Preparation."
Additional courses may be announced in January.
"Arts and Sciences" is Part II of "Learning to Achieve." Additional emphasis is placed upon Learning, Responsibility, and Adulthood. The course consists of a series of science, mathematics, social studies, and communication activities focused upon the conservation and development of the Quincy seashore. Students may elect this course for generic credit or as supplementary credit to complete a course, with the written permission of the appropriate department head or principal.
Junior and senior students may raise the level of study in the day English course by enrolling in this parallel after school program of guided study. The student, the day school English teacher, and the after school guided study teacher arrange objectives for an in depth study of some aspect of the day course. Students will meet with the guided study teacher for two after school sessions per week, some of which may include activities such as off campus library research or interviews. The final requirement will be a ten to fifteen minute audio visual production and presentation before a student and a faculty audience. Faculty members will make judgment as to appropriate level awarded.
