Do you serve breakfast?

Breakfast is available every morning immediately before school starts at all schools in Quincy. Breakfast consists of a selection of cereals, muffins, bagels, peanut butter, cream cheese, fresh fruit, fruit juice and milk.

What does breakfast cost?

The cost for breakfast is $1.00 at the high schools. At the secondary level breakfast ala carte items are also available for purchase.  Students who are eligible for Free or Reduced price lunches are automatically eligible for free or reduced price breakfast. The cost for a reduced price breakfast is 25 cents. Click here more information on eligibility requirements for free and reduced lunch.

How much does lunch cost?

Secondary full-price student lunch is $1.75.   The cost for a reduced price lunch is 40 cents.  Milk is served with all lunches.  The cost of purchasing milk only is 30 cents and milk choices include 2%, 1%, and 1% chocolate.   Some lunches also include fruit juices in addition to the milk.

At NQHS, we know that clubs and organizations play a great role in shaping your high school experience.  Through these groups, you can explore new interests, sharpen skills you already have, meet new people and experience new things.  Run a campaign!  Feed homeless kids.  Explore your heritage.  All this and more is waiting for you here.

Academic Decathlon

The Academic Decathlon is a team competition. Students are tested in ten categories: Art, Economics, Essay, Interview, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded for individual events and total scores. Winning teams advance through the local, regional, and state levels of competition. The state champions compete at the national finals.

Alliance Against Racism

The Massachusetts Students Alliance Against Racism and Violence help provide an understanding of prejudice and discrimination along with the harm that it inflicts upon individuals and society. To do this, we recognize our own and other's biases, take personal responsibility for combating prejudice and discrimination and challenge the stereotypes and biases which cause conflicts between peers. We also help provide solutions to the problems in our school and community.

Asian Cultural Club

The Asian Cultural Club was established at North Quincy High School during the 1995-96 school year.  The club regularly hosts and attends cultural evens centered around Asian cultures. These include fairs, fund-raisers, school and community-wide events.

Band

NQHS Band has traveled all over New England to participate in competition and perform at places such as Six Flags amusement park. We also participate in local parades and school concerts.  

Dance Team

The North Quincy High School dance team was started in the beginning of 2000 by Linda Sinclair and Stephanie Imbornone with the help of Maria D'Arcangelo and NQHS Alumni Julie Sullivan.  The team performs at school rallies and competitions and attends dance camps to improve skills. The team also has hosted clinics for all ages. 

Foreign Language Honor Society

The Foreign Language Honor Society is an organization which recognizes students who have achieved excellence in their Foreign Language studies.  Members participate in activities such as peer tutoring and planning multi-cultural events, such as the International Fair. To be eligible as a member of the World Language Honor Society, students must maintain the following grade averages:  90 (Standard), 90 (Honors), 85 (Advanced), over a period of three consecutive years.  After this period the student will be inducted in a formal year-end induction ceremony held by the Society.

French Club:

Welcome to the French Club at North Quincy High School.  Students further their appreciation of "le monde francophone" by attending events and trips such as: trips and membership to the Bibliotheque Francaise in Boston, French and European movies, French cooking, French restaurants, holiday and cultural celebrations and museums.

Girl's Volleyball

The North Quincy High School Girls Volleyball Team is one of the most respected teams in the state of Massachusetts.  It is a highly competitive program that focuses on hard work, dedication, and, of course, winning. Since the start of the program, North Quincy has won many State and Sectional Championships.  The Girls Volleyball Team plays in the Old Colony League, but the schedule also includes many non-league matches with some of the best teams throughout the state. All athletes are encouraged to try out for the team.  Joining the team is a great way to make new friends and get involved in the school.

Interact Club

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Quincy, an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who conduct humanitarian projects, Interact Club encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and work toward world understanding and peace.   The club to provides community and international service opportunities to selected youth between the ages of 14-18. Candidates to be selected will join more than 50,000 other interact members in over 2,400 clubs in 69 countries and geographical areas. Interact activities can fulfill community service obligations or earn graduation points.

Italian Club

Ciao!!!- North Quincy's Italian Club has done dinners and treasure hunts in the North End. Along with many other languages such as Spanish, French, Latin and Mandarin, the Italian Club made presentations to teach about Italian culture. Students have also traveled to Italy to visit Roma, Firenze, and Venezia.

Mediation Program

The Mediation Program helps people solve conflicts by talking to each other. Students are trained to listen to those in conflict and use techniques to help them resolve differences. The goal of mediation is to help the parties make up their own solution to the situation that they are willing to live with in the future. This program is in association with State Street Bank's partnership with the faculty, staff, and students of North Quincy High School.

Operation Day's Work

Operation Day's Work is a national, student-run campaign against child labor. We supply more education and aid for children in one poor, developing country each year. We have previously helped Haiti, El Salvador, Nepal, and Ethiopia. North Quincy High School, Quincy High School, Archbishop Williams High School, and Broad Meadows Middle School are all involved in ODW. Broad Meadows Middle School was one of the pilot schools. For more information, please visit Operations Days Work .

Peer Education

The Peer Education program at North Quincy High School has been an active club at NQHS for the past 15 years. Its goal is to train high school students about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Students then design lesson plans to work with the city's middle and elementary school classes. The focus is on remaining drug and alcohol free in a high school setting. Some recent highlights of the program include training Sophomore Peer Leaders with Peer Leaders from Quincy High School, Peer Leaders assisting in planning alcohol and drug free After-Prom event, running workshops for Atlantic Middle School students on the dangers of alcohol, and working with the Quincy Police's DARE program in the elementary schools.

North Quincy Pride Committee

The Pride committee reflects the commitment of the student body to the tradition of excellence and community that is North Quincy High School.  Working directly with the Principal, Assistant Principal and faculty, Pride Committee Officers and members create an environment that is supportive and inclusive, yet dynamic and enthusiastic. Pride Committee is the largest and most inclusive club in the school.  All students are eligible for membership.  Prospective members must write a brief essay to the Principal, indicating why they would like to serve.  The principal and vice-principal select members and from them, appoint eight co-chairs and an executive board. Members earn PRIDE POINTS by participating in Pride Committee sponsored activities such as rallies, Adopt-a-Family, Learning Center buddies, working in the Raider Cafe, other fund raisers and community service projects. Members are eligible for PRIDE PERSON OF THE MONTH which includes a school-wide announcement of their achievement, having their photograph in the Quincy Sun, a gift certificate to the school store, special recognition, and transcript credit for their participation.  It's simple, the more you do, the more points you earn!

Raider Cafe

The Raider Cafe provides vocational training for students who are intellectually impaired helping to develop skills for sheltered or competitive employment.  This course takes place in the Raider Cafe (school store). It also provides a setting for students in the Career Internship Program to apply the basic principles of small business. By working at the Raider Cafe students to are able to participate in running a hands-on retail business within the school.

Robotics Club

The Robotics Club competes throughout New England at FIRST Robotics events. We have regularly placed in the top three in many of the biggest competitions in New England.

Spectrum: A Gay / Straight Alliance

This support and education group promotes diversity, particularly around fighting homophobia and intolerance.  The group holds both educational and social events both in the school and in the community.

Student Council

The Student Council helps improve the school climate by insuring that student concerns about issues effecting school life are voiced in a formal way, and that those concerns are communicated to the school administration.  The Student Council also provides a nucleus of individuals who continuously engage in service to North by conduction and supervising school elections, conducting the annual Red Cross blood drive, providing individuals to assist in before- and after-school activities along with the Pride Committee whose co-chairs are members and by providing students to assist faculty and staff in the school store working with special needs students.

Thomas Jefferson Forum

The Thomas Jefferson Forum is an organization of students who are involved with community organizations and events such as Quincy Medical Center, Jimmy Fund, South Shore Community Health Center, Wang Center, Greater Boston Food Bank, coat drives and community outreach programs.

NQHS CLASS OF 1988 20th Reunion will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Water Club at Marina Bay in Quincy.
