Dear Members of the School Committee,
My name is Lindsay Robertson, and I am a QPS parent. I would like to thank Dr. Perkins for prioritizing literacy access by integrating the Sora library app into all our elementary schools. This initiative is already transforming how our children engage with reading.
Through the Massachusetts Library System, schools can participate at a cost of just over $1 per student, giving every child access to an extensive e-library both at home and at school via their QPS Clever accounts. Since Sora’s implementation, my son has already logged over 24 hours of reading—a personal example of the powerful impact this tool can have. Research consistently shows that reliable access to diverse books, paired with strong school library programs led by certified librarians, is one of the most effective ways to strengthen literacy skills.
Sora places a world of reading within reach of our young learners. It is a vital step toward building a culture of literacy across Quincy, and I encourage the Committee to continue championing initiatives like this while ensuring families know how to access Sora at home.
Thank you again, Dr. Perkins, for your leadership and dedication in supporting our students’ growth. You are truly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Lindsay Robertson
