Congratulations to NQHS 11th-grade students Nichole Chen and Jialin Yu, who are the winners of this year’s CGI I.T. Girl Challenge!

The I.T. Girl Challenge is an annual competition hosted by CGI, an international consulting and outsourcing company, to inspire and engage young women in technology. Learn more about the competition at https://www.cgi.com/us/en-us/cgi-it-girl-challenge.

Working in their own free time, Nichole and Jialin competed against other local high school teams to innovate, design and pitch a mobile app. They developed “Ascend,” a networking app for high school students…and they won first place in the competition along with a $20,000 cash prize! Nichole and Jialin also received a scholarship from Delta Airlines (in partnership with Junior Achievement USA) to attend the National Flight Academy in Florida, all transportation costs covered.

We commend Nichole and Jialin for their initiative and passion for business. Both students have been heavily engaged in their business studies at NQHS and with Junior Achievement. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these entrepreneurs!
