John & Abigail Adams Orchestras

JOHN ADAMS/ABIGAIL ADAMS ORCHESTRAS

The Quincy Public Schools will once again offer the John Adams and Abigail Adams Orchestra Program to string students with at least one year of playing experience who are currently enrolled in continuing lessons. Students with two or more years of experience may enroll in the orchestras without taking group lessons; instead private lessons are encouraged, but not required.

Both orchestras will start rehearsals on Monday, October 17, 2022 in the Quincy High School Band Room. Please visit https://unipaygold.unibank.com/transactioninfo.aspx?TID=26853 to register for the orchestra program and pay the $175 program fee. If you are not able to register online, you must complete the Registration Form on the back of this notice and mail it along with the payment to the address listed on the form before the start of rehearsal.

Returning students with at least one year of playing experience may join the Abigail Adams Orchestra.  Rehearsals for the Abigail Adams Orchestra are scheduled on Mondays from 3:00 pm to 3:50 p.m. and all students in this orchestra should bring their Essential Elements Book I to rehearsals.

Membership in the John Adams Orchestra is by audition only. These rehearsals are held from 3:55 p.m. to 4:55 p.m. Please contact your student’s string teacher to find out more information about auditioning for this ensemble. Membership in the Abigail Adams Orchestras is a prerequisite to joining this group unless your student has the required experience necessary as demonstrated through an audition.

Should your student still need an instrument, there will be a String Instrument Rental Night in the Cafeteria at Quincy High School on Tuesday, October 4. 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Representatives from the K & C Music Company will explain the rental process and individually fit each student to a properly sized instrument. For information about the K & C Music Company’s instrument rental contract and fees, or to place an instrument rental online, please contact Mr. Walter Andruchow at (781) 769-6520. We will also be accepting Registration Forms for both orchestras and the lesson program at the rental night in the event you are not able to register online.

For further information about the evening orchestras or the after-school string lesson program please email Mr. Michael DeMarco, Facilitator of Extended Educational Music Programs, at [email protected].
