Open Enrollment for 2020-21 School Year

Open Enrollment requests for students to attend a school outside their neighborhood district will be accepted online only. Please follow the link below to the appropriate form for your student's grade level in 2020-2021. Requests will be entered in the order they are submitted online and you will see a message confirming that you have successfully submitted the request form.  Students who are not yet registered to attend QPS should also fill out the New Student Pre-Registration forms -

Please note that school bus transportation is not available for Open Enrollment students.

Enrollment in the Quincy Public Schools is restricted to Quincy, Massachusetts residents.

Kindergarten (Students must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2020.)

The Quincy School Committee has a policy of granting Open Enrollment on a space-available basis.  When making the decision to admit open enrollment students, the Superintendent must consider the capacity of the school building to accommodate Open Enrollment students both for the present school year and future years.  School bus transportation is not available for Open Enrollment students.

To be eligible for Open Enrollment, students must be Quincy Residents.

All Open Enrollment requests must be submitted via the online request system at beginning at noon on Wednesday September 4, 2019.  After completing the form, you will receive a message that your request has has been successfully submitted. 


Open Enrollment Procedure:

  • Student names are place on school lists in the order in which they are received. 
  • Brothers and sisters of students already enrolled in a school under the Open Enrollment Policy will be given preference for that school, as long as the older student will still be enrolled there when the younger student starts schools.
  • Open Enrollment decisions are made at the end of the school, when enrollment projections for 2020-2021 are available.
  • Notification letters are mailed to families no later than mid-July.

Kindergarten Parents may request Open Enrollment beginning on September 4, 2019 but must also register students at their home school.  (Students who are already enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten at the Della Chiesa Early Childhood Center, Point Webster or Snug Harbor do not have to register again.)

Kindergarten registration will begin January 2020; check our website at for more information as the date approaches.  Your child will also be screened at their home school May 2020. Should your child be granted Open Enrollment, all records will be transferred to their new school.
