Student Opportunity Act (SOA):

The SOA is a recently approved update to the state’s Chapter 70 education funding formula. Its goal is to increase funding to local school districts and is specifically earmarked to close achievement gaps for three vulnerable populations: special education, English language learners, and low-income students. QPS may receive additional funding from the state over the next three years to improve outcomes for students falling into those three categories. The state is requiring school districts to include input from parents and community members in their plan that details how they will spend the additional funds.

Proposed 2020-21 QPS School Budget:

QPS released their proposed 2020-21 School Budget at the last School Committee (SC) meeting. SC members are encouraging parent input before they vote on it at their meeting next week.

Join us to learn more about and offer your thoughts on the SOA and the Budget. This is an important opportunity for you as parents to ask questions, and offer your ideas, suggestions, concerns, and opinions on how money is spent in our school district.

Your voice is important!
