This Parent Academy took place on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Central Middle School for parents with children in grades K-5.

Do you have questions about our new core math resource?
Are you wondering why math looks so different now?

Maureen O’Connell, math consultant and IM certified facilitator, and members of the QPS math team presented an evening of information and exploration. Participants took part in hands-on math experiences that show how problem-based learning builds understanding and number sense.

This event was not recorded, but materials from the event are available, including instructions for IM math games to play at home.

Maureen Durkin O’Connell is a math consultant and IM certified well as a former elementary classroom teacher and math specialist from Ipswich, MA. She taught IM in all grades K-5 during IM K-5 pilot years. She has authored many blogs and presented webinars for IM. Maureen is a proud graduate of the Worcester Public Schools, earned an A.B. from Smith College in Education and Child Study and her M.A. in Education of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired from Gallaudet University.
