Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide increased and improved educational opportunities for students in schools with a high incidence of poverty. We will develop students that can master challenging standards in core academic subjects by providing them with rigorous scientific, evidence-based intervention programs. We will determine our success by our student performance on assessments based upon the state frameworks. In order to fulfill our mission, greater responsibility and decision-making will be provided for the schools, staff, and families of our students.

Director's Message:

Title I is a federal grant that supports academic success in compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act. Title I services are provided to students who attend schools with a high rate of poverty, as measured by the percentage of students identified as receiving free and reduced lunch.

The Quincy Public Schools utilize a three-tier model of instruction. Title I staff provide research-based interventions for students, kindergarten through grade five, identified as struggling in their progress to make grade-level benchmarks in reading and math.

Title I teachers collaborate with other staff, administrators, and parents to provide the support each student needs to successfully access the grade-level curriculum. The Quincy Public Schools' Title One Program is committed to increasing academic achievement through strong school, parent, and community relationships.

Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards in order to reinforce and amplify efforts to improve teaching and learning for students farthest from meeting State standards. Individual public schools with poverty rates above 40 percent may use Title I funds, along with other Federal, State, and local funds, to operate a "school-wide program" to upgrade the instructional program for the whole school.
