2026-2027 School Year Open Enrollment Requests

The Quincy School Committee has a policy of granting Open Enrollment on a space-available basis. When making the decision to admit open enrollment students, the Superintendent must consider the capacity of the school building to accommodate Open Enrollment students both for the present school year and future years. Please note that school bus transportation is not available for Open Enrollment students.

Enrollment in the Quincy Public Schools is restricted to students who live in Quincy, Massachusetts with their families. 

**Based on current enrollment projections for the 2026-2027 school year, Open Enrollment is expected to be extremely limited for all grades at the following schools due to building capacity:  Atlantic, Central, and South~West Middle Schools; Quincy and North Quincy High Schools.  

Open Enrollment requests for students to attend a school outside their neighborhood district for the 2026-2027 school year will be accepted online beginning Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Requests will be entered in the order they are submitted online and you will see a message confirming that you have successfully submitted the request form. Open Enrollment Procedure:

• Student names are place on school lists in the order in which they are received. 

• Brothers and sisters of students already enrolled in a school under the Open Enrollment Policy will be given preference for that school, as long as the older student will still be enrolled there when the younger student starts schools.

• Open Enrollment decisions are made at the end of the school year when enrollment projections for 2026-2027 are available.

• Notification is by email, usually by the end of July.

Kindergarten Parents may request Open Enrollment beginning on September 3, 2025 but must also register students at their home school. (Students who are already enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten at the DeCristofaro Learning Center or Snug Harbor do not have to register again.)

Kindergarten registration will begin January 2026; check our website at for more information as the date approaches.  Should your child be granted Open Enrollment, all records will be transferred to their new school.
